unfixing artmaking (2019)

Members of Mocrep joined music and performance students at Mills College for a 3-day intensive devising workshop culminating in a work-in-progress showing. The workshop aimed to challenge the structures that commodify artistic relationships, to renegotiate the concept of authorship, and to make work as the result of convergence--contingent on the people in the room. For 3 days, participants had at least 4 hour hours of group work with the ensemble and other participants, with the option for additional time outside of that framework.

Students were invited to submit short proposals describing a potential project on which they’d like to collaborate with Mocrep and/or their colleagues in the workshop. Collaborations were realized in a series of group exercises and at the final presentation. Mocrep presented a lecture on their work and practice. All aspects of the workshop were open to the public.
